AWARNING that the applicant would lose his licence unless properly certified figures were prepared was given to Mr. J. A. MacMillan, Dolgarrog, by the North Western Deputy Licensing Authority when Mr. MacMillan sought the renewal of his B licence. Applicant said that his B licence for a vehicle of 2.1 tons unladen expired in May, 1956, and he had forgotten to apply for a renewal, The licence had been operated for over 30 years and Mr. MacMillan had been in business with his father and brother, both of whom were now dead. When the omission was brought to his notice in October a short-term licence was obtained. Mr. E. Jones, for the objectors, said that they viewed the application with some concern. If it were genuine they did not wish to object, but they had no knowledge of the existence of the business. They were entitled to know whether or not it was moribund.

The Authority extended the applicant's short-term licence for a further two months and adjourned the hearing.

B = A TO A NEWCOMER TO grant a B licence to a newcomer to carry general goods for another haulier would be the same as granting an A licence, Mr. E. Jones told the North Western Deputy Licensing Authority when A. Edwards, Ltd., Wrexham, sought a B licence for a vehicle of 41. tons unladen. . A representative of Canton Garages, Ltd., hauliers, said that they wanted Edwards' vehicle to help in emergencies. Canton carried a large tonnage of pyrites from Ellesmere Port to Courtaulds, Ltd., Greenfield, where the applicants had an excavator and carried to the site. There was also nearly 1,000 tons of pyrite clinker to be moved each week to Leeds. Mr. Jones, for the objectors, Messrs. Williams Bros., Treuddyn, Messrs. Thomas Bros., Wrexham, Messrs. Wyatt Davies, Caergwrle, and the British Transport Commission, said that there was no shortage of transport in Wrexham, and the objectors had not been asked to do the additional work. Mr. A. Edwards; for the applicants. said that his company was "on the spot" for Canton Garages in emergencies. It was also desired to carry for Builders General Supplies, Ltd.

The application was refused.
