Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Special Fore-carriage for Attachment, in Place of the Tractive Unit, to a Semi-trailer the order of the Anglo-Persian Oil Co., Ltd., R. A. Dyson and CO., Ltd., 76-80, Grafton Street, Liverpool, 8, has recently produced an interesting fourwheeled fore-carriage, for attachment to one of the former company's Dyson four-wheeled semi trailers supplied some time ago. The object. of the ttachment is to convert the semitrailer to an eight-wheeled trailer, in which no part of the weight is superimposed.on the towing vehicle. In this form it is suitable for loads weighing from 20 to 25 tons.

One of the accompanying illustrations shows the fore-carriage alone, and the other, the original semi-trailer, supported, at its front end, on a trolley and carrying a boiler for test purposes.

For the suspension of the forecarriage, Woodhead trunnion ended springs are used, whic;.a permit rocking of the axles to compensate for road irregularities. The deep pressed-steel spring hangers are worthy of note. Of the 10-stud detachable type, the wheels run on Timken roller bearings and are shod with 13.50-in. by 20-in. tyres. Westinghouse brakes are employed, the connection for attachment to the towing vehicle being clearly shown.

It will be observed that a pair of eyebolts are provided on the upper part of the fore-carriage as well as the drawbar attachments below.
