Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

I N a garage where the size of the fleet

warrants the maintenance of a fully organized service department, hand greasing is an anachronism that wastes time and money. A modern greasing installation, giving mechanized lubrication, should quickly save enough in labour costs to justify the comparatively moderate initial outlay. Among the inexpensive installations marketed by C. C. Wakefield and Co., Ltd., Wakefield House, Cheapside, London, E.C.2, is one priced at 262 (in Great Britain and Northern Ireland), which enables the complete lubrication of any vehicle efficiently to be effected.

The plant, occupying little floor

n28

space, consists of three units, contain, ing respectively grease, gear oil and

• penetrating oil. One of its special features is that the task of refilling the containers from drums is eliminated by using the 1-ewt. kegs of Castrol Medium and Castrol gear oil as containers.

A light hand gun is used, grease being delivered by a dual-action pump at a pressure between 2,000 lb. and 6,000 lb. per sq. in. The gear oil is also supplied, at a pressure up to 500 lb. per sq. in., through a doubleaction pump. A single shot or continuous supply of lubricant may be obtained. Connections are supplied for pushon, ho3k-on and Alemite greasing systems. Overhead swing arms, complete with extra lengths of piping, can be provided at a moderate additional cost. The control panel incorporates the control valves, an air-pressure gauge and a gear-oil flowrneter. The grease pressure is indicated on a separate gauge.

A wide range of larger and more elaborate equipment is available.. For garages where couipressed air is unobtainable, an electric lubricator is

marketed. Specially to meet the requirements of small garages and service stations, the Wakefield company lists a combined compressor and chassis lubricator.

Other items of equipment include a portable pump-operated gear-oil bucket or trolley, and. a Castro! gear flusher. The cheapest vehicle lift in the range is priced at 249.
