ssex-based agricultural dealer Ripper has had its Mercedes 1635 tractor unit stolen from its yard at Halstead. The vehicle, registration E495 DAN, is white with a single red stripe running across the centre of it and was used by the company for distribution of its parts. It was stolen overnight on 20/21 January. The chassis number is 645 1222 530 6815 and the engine number is 44295 0200 10763.

avid Dann has been without his only artic since Friday 22 January. "That's my livelihood gone to the wall," he says of his one-man bulk-haulage business.

The Mercedes 2429 6x2 tractor, coupled to a two-axle grain tipper-trailer, was stolen from Hailsham, East Sussex at around 19:30pm. It was spotted heading east towards the A21 and London by a local truck driver but eluded both police and hauliers.

wo aggregates tippers have been missing from Tarmac Roadstone's works at Shoreham wharf since 25 January. They were last seen travelling down Shoreham High Street at 16:15hrs. Both the Volvo FL7 6x4 and ERF 31PHRD 8x4 are in "very good condition", says transport manager Ray Hazelgrove. He suspects the vehicles are being "cut up locally" as many stolen over the years were spotted in the area but never further afield.

Both vehicles were in blue United Marine Aggregates livery, with UMA in white lettering. The Volvo, registration number F73 RIP, is fitted with engine number TD71FS26117, a nine-speed RI 000 gearbox and Neville Charrold body. The ERF unit, registration number 0852 TKM, has a Perkins engine, number 882/26089, Eaton twin-splitter gears and PPG sand and gravel body.
