Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

A LONG DISPUTE between VAG (UK) and the British Govern ment which has delayed the sale of Volkswagen Caddy pick-ups in the UK has been resolved with the result that VAG hopes to launch the Golf-based pick-up in Britain around April.

Introduced in Germany in 1982, (CM November 20, 1982) the Caddy (built by VW subsidiary TAS in Yugoslavia using German manufactured parts) was expected in this country early last year, but was held up by arguments about its country of origin.

Based on the current Golf car but with a longer wheelbase of 2625mm (8ft7in), the 1,625kg (32cwt) gvw Caddy is sold in Germany with a choice of either 1.6-litre petrol engine rated at 55kW (74bhp) or 1.6-litre diesel unit with an output of 40kW (54bhp). Engine options for the UK model however have yet to be announced.

Volkswagen will also be introducing a new Golf van in March or April featuring a redesigned front as seen on the latest Golf car models at last year's Frankfurt show.

The Transporter range has been further extended with the addition of an uprated 1,280kg (25.2cwt) payload model designated 1.2 Transporter and 1.2 Pick-Up. The 130kg (2.5cwt) in crease in nominal payload has been achieved by fitting uprated coil springs and shock absorbers to the 58kW (78bhp) petrol engine model fitted with the fivespeed gearbox.
