NATIONAL CARRIERS Contract Services, part of the National Freight Consortium, has made Mike Tarrant managing director, at the company's head office in Bedford.

He takes over from Paul Riven who recently became managing director of Downards-Pickford, the Australian removals and distribution NFC subsidiary.

Mr Tarrant joined National Carriers in 1969 as a management services consultant. Following this he held numerous line management appointments until 1967 when he became responsible for the company's operations at London's Victoria and Albert Docks.

In 1981 he moved to Peterborough to take up the position of marketing and sales manager for National Carriers Eastern. The next year he became sales director for National Carriers Contract Services in Bedford.
