Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

MOVES to combat the dangers of three-lane roads were outlined in the Commons last week by Mr. Stephen Swingler, Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Transport.

The accident rate on these roads was not significantly different from that on two-lane roads, he said, but he recognized that there were certain hazards arising on three-lane roads, especially busy ones.

Several existing lengths of over-loaded threelane roads would be converted to dual carriageways when resources permitted, and in the short term, experiments with offset double white liws were in progress.
