PUBLICATION of a maintenance manual by

the Road Haulage Association is welcomed in a foreword contributed by the Minister of Transport, Mrs. Barbara Castle, who recommends every operator to study the advice it contains. A copy of the manual will be received by each of the 18,000 members of the Association this morning (Friday). Additional copies at 2s. 6d. can be obtained from the Association's head office at 22 Upper Woburn Place, London, WC1.

The main part of the publication consists of revised articles which have been published in the Association's journal, Road Way.

The book deals with advisory committees, bonus systems for mechanics, case studies of hauliers' maintenance methods, checking systems. chassis cleaning equipment, consultancy services, diesel smoke, insurance aspects of maintenance, law on GV9 notices, lighting maintenance, recording systems, semi-trailer maintenance, training schemes for operators' mechanics and workshop equipment and layout.
