upon Kingston (Architectural Craftsmen), Ltd., Hull, and 10 of their drivers at Hull, last week, for offences in connection with driving hours and records. The company were ordered to pay £34 13s. costs.

The drivers pleaded -guilty to 19 summonses for failing to keep records and 14 for exceeding statutory hours. The company admitted failure to cause records to be kept and allowing the driving offences. A further 27 offences were taken into consideration.

Mr. C. H. Ashburn, defending, said that the company had not forced the men to drive for too long. The men had not entered mealtimes in their records because they thought they would not be paid for them.

Marsh (Wakefield), Ltd., Alverthorpe Road, Wakefield, were fined a total of £120, with £10 10s. costs, on 12 summonses at Wakefield last week for failing to cause records to be kept and permitting irregularities in drivers' hours. Fifteen other offences were taken into consideration. Three of the company's drivers• were fined amounts totalling £24.

Leeds West Riding Court fined Smith and Robinson (Leeds), Ltd., £112 on 28 similar summonses and ordered them to pay £52 10s. advocate's fees. Sixteen of the company's drivers were fined a total of £47.
