MR. RONALD G. DAVIES, former manager of the Carlisle Group of British Road Services, has. taken up an appointment with the Preston Dock Group.

MR C. M. FLOYD, vice-chairman of the Avon India Rubber Co., Ltd., has been elected chairman. He succeeds MAJOR R. F. FULLER, who in recognition of long service has been given the title of president. Major Fuller will remain on the board.

MR. W. A. GREGSON has been appointed director and general manager of Garlick, Burrell and Edwards, Ltd., and the Southport Engineering Co., Ltd. He will continue as a director and general manager of the Chester Engineering Co., Ltd.

MR. CHARLES HEMM has been appointed director of projects (general rubber goods) of the Dunlop Rubber Co., Ltd. Mr. Hemm was general works manager and a local director for the past six years of the company's factory in Cambridge Street, Manchester.

SIR STANFORD COOPER has retired from the vice-chairmanship of the Ford Motor Co., Ltd., but will remain on the board. He has been with the company for 35 years and was the company's first secretary. He joined the board in 1939 and became a managing director in 1941 and vicechairman in 1948. MR. R. Mr. Fish was for some time commercial manager, and subsequently overseas division manager of 1.T.D., Ltd., world distributors of Stacatruc fork-lift trucks, a company founded by Col. Hartmann, and of which he was managing director until 1952.

MR. ALICK S. Dim, managing director of the Standard Motor Co., Ltd., left London Airport last week on the first stage of a 30,000-mile tour of Australia and New Zealand. He was accompanied by MR. W. J. R. WARREN, director of export sales. Mr. Dick will also visit New York, Los Angeles, Fiji, Colombo, Bombay, Aden, Cairo, Athens and Rome. He expects to be back in this country by April 1.

Ms. N. T. O'REILLY has been appointed to the national council of the Road Haulage Association by the Northern Area. Ile replaces MR. H. L. WALKER, who has resigned. The national council have appointed MR. A. R. Burr and Mr. O'Reilly as members of the executive committee to replace Mr. Walker and MR. J. S. F. PourrzEa, who has also resigned. The places of the two resigned members on the national finance committee are taken by Mr. O'Reilly and MR. B. WINTERBOITOM.
