Landrec (UK) creditors could be forced to write off their debts

CUMBRIAN LOGISTICS firm WM Armstrong says it is taking legal advice after one of its customers went into liquidation leaving it chasing £33,000 of unpaid invoices.

Managing director Jennifer Whyberd says it will probably have to write off the debt after quarry business Landrec (UK) brought in liquidators from Beg bies Traynor in October. She adds: The liquidator doesn't think there's much prospect of a return. So we will just write it off and work through it."

Another creditor, Mike Dalgleish, for M Dalgleish Toper Hire, says he fears he'll go bust if he doesn't receive the £28.600 he's owed. "It's about two months' work," he says. "We're left carrying the can. We have young families and mortgages it's crucifying us."

Steven Walker, director for Lochmaben Transport, says he is owed £19,600. adding: "We expected payments within 90 days. It's a lot of money for us."

CM was unable to contact Landrec (UK)'s directors, Earl Crooks and Peter Slater. When we called its Carlisle Aggregates number, we were told this business was not trading. Begbies Traynor did not return our calls.
