Mercer warned
• Despite granting Airdriebased John Mercer, trading as JM Haulage, a licence for two vehicles, Scottish TC Michael Betts issued him with a warning about his future maintenance standards at an Edinburgh public inquiry.
Dozen cut
• The authorisation on the licence held by Loanhead, Edinburgh-based Veitch Brothers was cut from 22 vehicles and eight trailers to 10 vehicles and eight trailers at an Edinburgh disciplinary inquiry. The company had been called before Scottish TC Michael Betts because of concern over its maintenance record.
Missing certificates
• C Schofield's failure to display a plating certificate and a test date certificate on a trailer has cost the Batley, West Yorkshire-based business £500 in fines and costs. For the defence, John Backhouse told Penrith magistrates that the certificates had either dropped off, been knocked off or had been stolen.
