Mon l ys Grey Coaches, Ltd., and A. Towler and Sons, Ltd., appealed against the ref al to grant them licences to operate express services from Foltwell R.A.F. amp to King's Cross, London, whilst he third appeal, by Mr. G. Mattheivs, concerned a similar service from Marham R.A.F. camp to King's Cross. Ihe Eastern Licensing Authority was co Cemed in each case.
In th case of Morleys Grey Coaches, the M nister overruled the recommendat on of the inspector, Sir Oswald Allen, nd decided that the existing road-rail service was satisfactory.
In all cases, additional evidence was allowed' to be given at the appeal hearings, but the Minister has pointed out that although this is admitted at the discretion of the inspector: "The appeal is against the decision of the Licensing Authority . . . and on the evidencb which was before them. . . . The inquiry will be restricted in scope accordi1 gly."
