Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

IN reply to Sir Adam Maitland, Mr. 1Noel-Baker stated in Parliament last week that in the past financial year, ending March 31, 296 local authorities claimed grants from the Road Fund in respect of snow ploughs; between April 1 and October 31 218 other local authorities had applied for grants; seven claims were not admitted, because it was considered, that sufficient plant was already available, and 15 claims were not admitted because the ploughs had been purchased before grants were available.

WAGES RATES POINTERS. EXPLAINED

OUR attention has been drawn 'to an error in the paragraph dealing with the recent wage increases which appeared in our issue dated November 20. In that item of news it was stated that prior to this last increase the subsistence allowance, now 9s., was 7s. 6d. Actually the latter figure should have been 7s., which was the subsistence allowance stipulated in R.H. 10.

In that same reference to wages it was correctly stated that statutory attendants under 18 years of age are to receive increases of half those which apply to adults. It appears to be advisable 'to make it clear that statutory attendants over 18 years of age receive the full increases as applicable to adults, according to the area in which they may be operating.
