Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

40 people heard S.T.R., The Commercial Motor costs expert, at Lincoln, last Saturday, when he addressed the Lincolnshire Transport Association on the subject of .costs and charges.

S.T.R. described a simple way of assessing the cost of operation of a vehicle, without the necessity, in the first place, of the operator having actual experience, or having kept• accounts of his expenditure. The lecturer showed how to use these estimated figures as a means for arriving at proper charges which would show a minimum profit Examples of the application of the system were described and placed before the audience on a series of posters hung upon the wall of the lecture room. It was clear that this method of driving home the lesson of operating costs was greatly appreciated.

S.T.R. showed how The Commercial Motor Operating Costs Record was devised to assist operators in arriving at the same objective in a simple manner, not calling for much expenditure of time or labour.

A number of questions followed.

Mr. Hunt, who was in the chair, recommended those present to read The Commercial Motor. He said that he himself had taken it for many years and that he could not remember a Sunday which he had allowed to pass during which he had not read The Commercial Motor from cover to cover.
