New Road to By-pass Whitchurch.

A new road to by-pass the village of Whitehurch, on the route from Cardiff to Merthyr Tydfil, is to be built by Glamorgan County Council, and the Minister of Transport has approved a grant from the Road Fund for the first section, which is to be put in hand immediately_ The by-pass will be about two miles long, and ii estimated

to cost more than £80,000. The old road through Whitchurch is -very narrow and carries daily an average of 10,000 tons of traffic, Palestine's First Double-decker.

A law has been enacted by the Palestine Government to permit the trial in Tel-Aviv of a Leyland Titan 60-seater double-deck bus, the first of its type to operate in Palestine. The vehicle has attracted much attention, for, prior to its exhibition outside the British Pavilion at the recent Levant Fair, the bus was guarded by a military escort during its journey from Haifa to TelAviv, on account of the Jewish-Arab disturbances.

Freeguard Business to be Sold?

An application has been made to the South Wales Licensing Authority by British Conveyance's, Ltd., 57, Dock Street, Newport, Mon, to take over the business and six vehicles (27 tons 142cwt.) of Freeguard Bros. Transport Co., of the same town. A NEW TYRE THAT WILL GO ANYWHERE .

Busy Bodybuilding Works.

The factory of Eastern Coach Works, Ltd., Laundry Lane, Lowestoft, is busily engaged on the construction of a variety of passenger bodies for leading operating concerns, amongst the Orders in hand being the following:— Nine B.E.F.-type single-deckers for the Caledonian Omnibus Co., Ltd., and four of a similar pattern for the Yorkshire Traction Co., Ltd.; seven singledeckers for United Automobile Services, Ltd., and a similar number for United Counties Omnibus Co., Ltd.; 19 doubledeckers and 18 single-deckers for the Eastern National Omnibus Co., Ltd.
