Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

I'VE JUST READ your article on wheel loss (CM 14 July). [now have a much more detailed understanding of the dynamics of wheel loss and the problems with preventing it.

What I don't understand is why the phenomenon doesn't exist on cars. Most motorists don't check their wheel nuts unless they need a new tyre or have a puncture, yet car wheel loss due to detached wheel nuts seems to be an extremely rare occurrence.
