Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• MWG Esarco has dropped the Land Rover four-and sixcylinder diesel engine options on its 6x6 and 8x8 all-terrain vehicles, and will be offering the Perkins Phaser power units instead. The new engines are the Phaser four-cylinder 78kW unit for the 6x6 vehicle, and the Phaser six-cylinder 119kW unit for the 8x8.

Both the Phaser engines are turbocharged and have directinjection cylinder heads.

The company claims that the new engines will offer much better torque than their predecessors, and their extra power will enable speeds of 112km/h to be maintained more easily. The four-cylinder Phaser is thE same power unit as that fitted to the Reynolds Boughton RB44 vehicle which the army has purchased.

The larger 8x8 Esarco will also get a longer wheelbase, which the company says will give better ground clearance and a lower centre of gravity. Land Rover's vee-eight 3.5litre petrol engine will continue to be offered in fuel-injected form in the 8x8 vehicle but the automatic gearbox option will only be offered with the petrol engine for the moment.

The price of the petrolengined 6x6 vehicle is 221,00C ex-VAT, and the petrol 8X8 vehicle costs 226,500 ex-VAT.
