Figures from London Regional Transport's annual results ending 31 March, 1988, also show bus-service levels increasing 1% and unit costs on bus services falling 5%.

London Buses increased turnover from 2297.4 million to 2310.4 million. Service performance was improved slightly, with average waiting times on highfrequency services dropping to 7.2 minutes from 7.4 minutes in the previous year, while 91.8% of scheduled routing was achieved.

The company also improved passenger loading from 17 to 18 passengers per bus. Bus distances travelled per employee rose from 10,7801un to 11,746km, but this was coupled with London Buses' decrease in staff from 23,196 to 20,879. Assaults on staff fell by 10% following several anti-assaults and anti-graffiti measures.

During the financial year, 63 routes were offered for tender. London Buses won 63%, other operators achieved 13% and 24% has yet to be awarded.
