C-Licensees Must Guard Their Interests AWARNING to C-licence holders that before long they would inevitably be caught up in Government restrictions, and that it, therefore, behoved them to be prepared to protect their legitimate rights and interests, was uttered by Mr. E. T. Lear in presiding, last week, over the annual general meeting of the West of England C-Licence Holders' Association.

Mr. Lear remarked that there was evidence of a hope, in certain quarters, that C-licence holders would shortly have to come under some sort of control, and the question was whether they were going to be able to get a square deal. They could not shut their eyes to the fact that there was going to be more legislation and restriction in the future, and it was important that there should be in existence a strong Association, which would be able to guide that legislation.

They were trying to make the Association a larger body, and in that they had been fairly successful, the membership having now been increased to over 50.

The advantage of having such a body in existence was that if the Government decided revision in the Acts governing transport was necessary, the resolutions they passed would be taken into consideration and they would have an opportunity (either directly or through A.R.O., to which their Association was affiliated) of stating their case and having reasonable inquiry made into their representations.

Mr. Lear was elected chairman of the Association for the ensuing year, Mr.

Norman J. Bennett secretary, Mr.

C. J. Cooper treasurer, and Mr. R. W. 1-■ennamore auditor, with the following as the committee:—Messrs. W. E. Leest, W. E. Luxton, W. J. Keast, A. II. Black, C. J. Cooper and P. D. Morcott].

It was resolved that four general meetings a year, in addition to the monthly meetings of the committee. should be held.
