TRANSPORT SECRETARY Norman Fowler is to consider a survey of transport facilities for rural areas, although he is generally pleased with the way new rural bus services are being set up.
In answer to Labour transport spokesman John Prescott's assertion that rural services were closing down all over the country. Mr Fowler pointed out that the decline in rural bus services had taken place over the past 25 years, under the old licensing system.
