THE first of a new series of 15-cwt. trailers, incorporating several interesting features, has been put into production by the Low Loading Trailer Co., Ltd., of Bedford.
The chief characteristic of the new design lies in the method of manufacture. The bodywork is made completely of pressed and folded steel, the only angle-iron used being in the towbar, which is of the normal type. The complete unit, with the exception of -the flooring, is cut from an 8-ft. by 3-ft. sheet of 16-gauge steel, and this method saves not only time in assembly, but also 100 ft. of angle-iron.
Weighing 61 cwt., as against the 7: cwt, of the former model made by this company, the new trailer is 7 ft. 8 ins, long by 3 ft. 8 ins, wide and incorporates the low-loading principles which • characterize this maker's . products.
Despite the increase in the price of steel, this new method of construction has enabled the company to keep the price at £112, the figure at which the old model was marketed.
For the present the maker will concentrate on this one model.
