PD Logistics in Taylors tie-up

PD LOG1ST1CS HAS signed a contract to transport goodsfor tea and coffee merchant Taylors of Harrogate.

The haulier — part of the PD Ports group that runs Teesport — will carry products from the port to the firm's production facility in Harrogate, North Yorkshire.

Taylors, which produces the Yorkshire Tea brand, has traditionally imported items through ports in the south of England.

Richard Brewster, commodities shipping manager at Taylors, says the agreement will help his company cut the number of truck journeys it carries out.

"By shipping our products direct to Teesport and storing them on-site before their final iourney to Harrogate, we will significantly reduce our carbon footprint and provide a more cost-effective option for our business."

PD Logistics would not confirm the value or the length of the agreement, but says it is delighted to have established what it expects to be "a long and successful partnership".
