Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• A firm of solicitors is appealing for information from hauliers who may be suffering the side-effects of exposure to sheep dip.

Wolferstans of Plymouth has issued a writ against TNT Express (UK) on behalf of John Ashenden, a former driver who claims he was exposed to organophosphate pesticides during his employment.

He is claiming damages of more than £50,000 for personal injury and consequential loss arising out of negligence.

But the writ is only part of a wider multiparty claim mounting against the agro-chemical manufacturers of sheep dip. More than 600 people have been identified as suffering side-effects from exposure to organophosphate pesticides.

Peter Bright, the partner in charge of group action at Wolferstans, says exposure may result in chronic fatigue, short-to-medium term memory loss and kidney problems.

Organophosphate pes ticides are also believed to be a factor in Gulf War Syndrome and Wolferstans is awaiting scientific research to confirm the exact relationship between the toxic substances and the symptoms.

Bright says: "We would love to hear from other drivers who think they have suffered serious symptoms shortly after they were transporting sheep dip or other loads which contained organophosphate pesticides."

Wolferstands can be contacted on 01752 663295.
