El The introduction of Type Approval for trailers and bodywork has moved a step closer with the publication of a consultation document by the Department of Transport.
Among the 20D-plus pages are proposals that EC Whole Vehicle Type Approval should be extended to include virtually all goads vehicles and trailers. Although the scheme would gradually become mandatory
between 2007 and 2012, it could be in voluntary operation as early as 2005.

The official consultation period conies to an end on 31 October.
