CREWS in two Scottish cities are planning to get tough with bus vandals following attacks in recent weeks. The headmasters of two Glasgow schools have been warned that services will be withdrawn unless violence on buses stops.

Crews •at the city's Maryhill Garage have complained following an incident in which a conductor was badly bruised and had his wrist-watch damaged. Five routes are involved.

A MAJOR order for articulated single deck buses for the Stockholm municipal undertaking has been won by the Belgian bodybuilder Van Hool. The chassis unit is a Volvo B58 and the body and trailer is built by Van Hool. The buses, equipped with Wilson semi automatic gearboxes, have 73 seats and can carry 125 passengers. The order calls for the supply of 75 buses.

EXTRA mechanics and fitters are being recruited by the West Midlands PTE in a bid to tackle a big backlog of repairs. Services have had to be curtailed because of delays in the delivery of new vehicles and breakdowns affecting old vehicles.

Problems in obtaining spare parts have become less acute and some are now being made especially for the PTE.
