A NEW batch of export orders rib received by Leyland Motors, Ltd., totals nearly £2m. in value. Leyland exports have increased this year and are running over 4 per cent. higher than in 1951. Overseas shipments during 1952 account for 58 per cent, of total output.

The Leyland agent in Sweden, Forenade _Rif, has ordered four Comet 90 lorries, and Cifkurt Ticaret ve Sanayi, T.A.S.,. Istanbul, requires four chassisless underfloor-engined 40-seat buses.

EUROPEAN TRANSPORT CO-ORDINATION

THE creation of an organization to co-ordinate road, rail and water transport in Europe has been decided upon by the assembly of the Council of Europe. Among the objects are pooling and standardization of equipment, co-ordination of rates and preparation of plans for the replacement of equipment.

it is suggested that the body should consist of representatives of the International-Chamber of Commerce, trade unions and Governments. Ownership of transport undertakings will not be vested in the organization.

MINISTER'S PLEDGE

OPENING the Commercial Motor Show at Earls Court, last week, Mr. A. T. Lennox-Boyd, Minister of Transport, said he would do his best to keep transport out of politics.

He complimented the commercial vehicle industry' on having maintained exports in the first eight months of the year and on having earned an extra Dm. of foreign currency.

SCOITIgl SLIM NEXT YEAR? QUBJECT to the approval of the b--1 Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders, the Scottish M.otor Trade Association will hold a Motor Show in Scotland next year. There will be a section for lightand medium-weight commercial vehicles. The probable dates are November 13-21. The Scottish Show was last held in 1949.
