Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

ANEW model for 1926 is the Major, chassis, two of which are on view —one as a stripped chassis, the other as a bus. An interesting feature of the six-cylinder engine is the oil supply for the overhead rockers of the inlet valves. These valves are of large area, and have a low lift, the exhaust valves being of the side-by-side pattern. All valve seats are water jacketed. Ignition is by coil and distributor, the latter being mounted on the North-Eastern dynamo.

The gearbox is mounted separately, but on the same sub-frame as are the radiator and engine. The clutch is of the multi-disc type, and tht gearbox provides three speeds forward. A twopiece propeller shaft carries the 'power to the banjo-type rear axle, the centre bearing of the shaft being of the selfaligning type mounted on one of the frame cross-members. The torque is taken by a pressed-steel arm having a leaf spring mounting at its forWard end*. The rear semi-elliptic springs are underslung, and both brakes operate on the rear-wheel drums. A point of note is that the braking area affords one square inch of lining to -every 5.75 lb. chassis

weight. • ' Mounted on one of these chassis is a 20-seater saloon bus with adriver-controlled entrance door and an emergency exit at the rear with a hinged reversible step.

Dealing next with the Pullman, this has a eh:rifler engine, but the wheelbase is 20 ins, longer and the frame is lower, being only 24i ins, from the ground. The side-members are upswept over the rear axle., and there are no fewer than eight cross-members ie the chassis. At the front is mounted a spring buffer bar.

Six brakes operating on all wheels are a feature of this model, and single or twin pneumatic tyre equipment can be provided for the rear wheels. Incorporated in, the exhaust layout are unions for pipes for warming the interior of the body, the control being operated by the driver. The rear springs of the Pullman are interesting in that the bulk of the leaves deal with the majority of the weight, but there are four extra leaves below the main part of the springs to deal with any possible overload.

Mounted on one of these chassis is a 20-seater safety coach.

A 14-seater coach body is shown on the Reo Sprinter. The chassis details of this model are similar to those of the Speed wagon, but a six-cylinder engine of 24.3 h.p. is incorporated.

Rated at 25-cwt. load capacity is the three-way hand-operated tipping wagon on the Speed wagon chassis. Bevel and sector steering is provided, and the engine is of the four-cylinder type.

The tipping gear is made by • J.

Walters and Co., of Rugby. Harris and Hamel, Ltd., SI. George's Road, Bristol.
