Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

B0T1-1 steam and electricity as power providers are to be found on the Clayton stand, the 3k-ton electric vehicle being shown as a refuse-collecting machine, whilst the steamer is equipped with a tipping body. In addition, there is a 4-ton all-steel chassis trailer running on rubber tyres and fitted with. expanding brakes arranged for operation from the towing vehicle.

Dealing with the electric model, this runs on single • solid rubber tyres all round, and has• the batteries mounted across the frame, approximately in the centre. The refuse-collecting body has the upper halves hinged in order to facilitate loading, unloading being performed by tipping the body, which is of the run-back type, and has a raising and lowering gear operated by a separ ate electric motor. The finish is in red, certain parts being treated in a lighter shade, and the undercarriage is finished in black.

The driver's comfort has been attended to in the design of the cab, whieh, in reality, is a miniature saloon ; there are three windows facing forwards to form a tvindscrten, that on the off side being divided to give a hinged upper light to facilitate driving in the rain; on each side and in the rear of the cab are additional lights, and the seating space is ample.

Destined for the Team Valley Motor Co., Ltd., of Birtley, is the hydraulically operated tipping wagon, which has the ram in front of the rear axle; the load can be shot on either side or to the rear. On the off side of the vehicle

is the dynamo, to which power is transmitted by a leather link belt ; the mechanical lubricator is driven from the chain sprocket axle.

. Again, this exhibit shows care for the driver in the design of the cab, and the provision of a five-lamp set renders the vehicle capable of the longest night runs without that strainwhich so often occurs when much driving has to be done with lights of inferior power.

In the cab is carried the grease gun for chassis lubrication, spring clips are employed for this tool, and the mounting of a bell on the top of the boiler adjacent to. the driver's left hand is such that no time shall be lost in sounding a warning when occasion arises.
