Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

read in Commercial Motorthat there is no funding available for training in our industry ("Managing the Assets", page 41, CM19-25 April). The reality is that there is an immense amount of money available to help with both the recruitment and training of staff covering a wide range of subjects in the Transport and Distribution industry, for example:

■ Individual learning Accounts {ILA); ■ Foundation and Advanced Modern Apprenticeships: ■ New deal; ■ Work-based learning for adults.

tfjust 10,000 people working in the industry opened an ILA in support of their career development needs £1,500,000 worth of funding would be generated—Modern Apprenticeships generate something between £2,500 and £7,500 of funding per person.

New Deal provides wage subsidies and training grants; Work Based Learning for Adults also provides funding to support training and recruitment.

As a training body to the industry we at CVM Drivemaster are actively promoting these possibilities and would be pleased to discuss them with anyone who is interested in accessing funding in support of recruitment and training. Kevin Pearson,

Managing director,

CVM Drivemaster,

Burton on Trent, Staffs.
