• Powder distribution company Arclid Transport is the first company to take delivery of an eight-wheeled Foden Alpha rigid fitted with an XL cab.
The Bx4 powder tanker is the fifth Alpha to join the 28strong all-Faden operation. The Alpha XL features a 340hp CAT C10 engine and a 32.8m3 Metalair-built tank. It will be operated on a single shift basis and is expected to cover 120,000km a year delivering sand and salt.
The XL cab has been added because of the 1.8m standing space, two "aircraft" lockers and 24V power socket; the XL has an overall height of 3.8m.
