Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

■ A direct-injection diesel engine jointly developed by PSA Peugeot Citroen and Ford has been launched with a further 23 versions in the pipeline.

The first-phase commonrail 1,398cc "featherweight" engine will be available with rated power outputs of 60hp (43kW) and 92hp (66kW) and torque ratings of 150-200Nm.

The new engine will be used in Peugeot's latest 307 hatchbacks; it is marketed as the HDi 1.4. Ford will introduce its version in the new Fiesta at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September but will market it as the Duratorq TDCi 1.4. Over the next 18 months the partnership is set to introduce another 23 engines. The likelihood is that the "baby Transit", to be built in Turkey and launched next year, will be the main beneficiary for Ford as well as the new-Fiesta range including the van. PSA Peugeot Citroen will be adapting the engine for its range of light CVs.

The engine range wilt feature more than 60% of common components. Under an agreement signed in September 1998 the partners have collaborated to develop four ranges of com mon-rail diesels, including engines for right CVs.
