Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Your livery could win one of CM's annual awards and greater recognition. Now's the time to enter. Our requirements are set out below

• At Truckfest time when attention is focused on the country's most dazzling trucks, it is appropriate that we launch CM's annual Livery Competition.

The competition is now well established in the industry and it has attracted some of the very largest names — the Post Office was a class winner last year. Do not let that deter the smaller operator; large companies do not have a monopoly on good design and there will be a separate award for the best livery from a fleet of fewer than 15 vehicles.

As ever, the object of the competition is to encourage smart, eye-catching and effective liveries — liveries that are a credit to the vehicle, the operator and the industry. Here are a few pointers to what our judges will be looking for:

flA three-dimensional approach — the vehicle should be treated as a solid object, not four flat sides

There is no single route to a winning livery. Past winners include designs that are notable for their simplicity and cleanliness, while others have been dazzling and highly original.

Like last year, there are four classes: Class 1: Goods vehicles up to 7.5 tonnes GVW Class 2: Goods vehicles 7.5 to 16.25 tonnes GVW Class 3: Goods vehicles above 16.25 tonnes GVW

Class 4: Buses and Coaches

Our judges will be drawn from the ranks of professional designers and the transport industry so we will have a balanced, realistic assessment.

Shown here are just a few of the best

ntries from previous years. Colour hotographs and critiques of the best of is year's entries will appear in a major ?ature in a future issue of CM. This year, the CM Livery Competition 5 free to enter. Our thanks to the ■ reight Transport Association which is ponsoring the additional award for the ■ est livery from an operator with fewer han 15 vehicles.
