MOVES which would finally clear the way for International Harvester's £7.6m bid for SeddonAtkinson were expected to take place in the United States this week. The deal which values outstanding Seddon shares at 471/2p each — has been recommended ,by the directors of both groups. Final approval from the American end was expected this week.
Negotiations between the two sides have been taking place for some months now. 1H, which controls 33 per cent of DAF, has indicated that it intends SeddonAtkinson to continue business under its own name, and to expand in Europe.
