Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

EQUIPMENT to facilitate the removal of containers from vehicles, without the need for an elaborate handling system or overhead lifting gear, has been introduced by James Cocker and Sons (Southport) Ltd., Meols Cop Road, Southport. The time of removal can be reckoned as under five minutes and the cost of the necessary equipment for either of the two methods at present available is £85. Beneath the container front and rear are double tubular sockets and into these fit wheeled struts, adjustable for height. A garage jack is employed to lift the front and rear axles of the vehicle in turn and as each is lifted to give the requisite clearance, the support struts (set to the correct height) arc pushed into the sockets. When the vehicle is supported by all four struts the vehicle can be driven away and the container can be wheeled away for unloading or storage. The operation is carried out in reverse

when the container is being placed on the vehicle and quick-acting clamps are used to secure the container.

In an alternative method, two five-ton hydraulic jacks are fitted to special brackets. After the front pedestals have been fitted and the locking pins inserted, the 'jacks are removed to the rear, where the process is repeated. This second system is intended specially for operation in conjunction with multi-wheeled vehicles where axle jacking would be impracticable. A further design, which will be available shortly. will incorporate a built-in hydraulic jacking system.

Because there is no necessity to provide reinforcement to carry overhead lifting gear the weight of the container superstructure can be kept at a minimum.
