Downton seeks cider decider

CM DOWNTON has submitted an O-licence application for eight vehicles and 15 trailers at the Western Approach Distribution Park in Severn Beach, Bristol for the C&C Group.

The haulage irm has also applied to base 10 vehicles and 25 trailers for C&C Group at the Centurion Business Centre in Fosse Way, Shepton Mallet.

The applications are related to the irm’s ive-year, £25m contract, announced last July, to manage warehousing and distribution for the combined cider business of Magners.

CM Downton will transport Magners, produced in the Irish Republic, as well as the Gaymers cider brands, made in Shepton Mallet, Somerset, from the sites.

In 2009, the parent company of Magners, C&C Group, bought the Gaymers portfolio – including Olde English, Gaymers and Blackthorn – for £45m from drinks irm Constellation Brands.
