Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

next...erm... individual. On the margin challenges you to break the mould.

If one of those intolerably dull surveys were carried out into the behaviour and preferences of high-street recruitment consultants, what would it reveal? Would you care? In fact, does the word "consultant" mean very little to you too?

There's no need to worry, because a recruitment consultancy has been investigating the behaviour and preferences of truck drivers!

And here's a shock: apparently drivers don't like pop music and burgers. Instead the Blue Arrow survey reveals more refined traits, such as listening to the news and eating healthy sandwiches.

"The results were staggering, and revealed that today's professional driver is a very different species to the stereotype many people expect to find," the press release gushes, before Blue Arrow director Jacqui Richards steps in to tell us that actually it's no surprise at all. Truck drivers are really a lot like you or I.

Without all those recruitment consultants, we don't know how you'd get out of bed in the morning.

However, we suspect TNT is happy that the 'cab potato' myth has been blown apart. Its latest press release Informs us it will be delivering a million drinks to water stations based along the route for this years' London Marathon. Yup, the image they want to portray must be one of a fit, healthy, unbeatable industry; willing to run 26 miles around London without stopping (or being charged by Ken Livingstone).

But what is the truth? Is the nation's haulage industry more content to chow down on a greasy, McCartney-vilified, bovine spine in a bap, than prepare for a nipple-bleeding, knee-joint crushing 26-mile marathon?

In fact, food and exercise aside, what do our readers do in their spare time? What are you reading at the moment? How do you relax? Write/fax/email CMand show us how diverse and wide-ranging the industry's pastimes are.

And let's put a stop to the pigeonholing press bobbins from the likes of Blue Arrow.
