Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Truck thefts soared in Kent last year by 370/ to 329 units. But numbers for November last year to January 1994 have fallen 6% compared to the same period a year ago owing to a number of investigations mounted in September and October last year, say Kent police.

The greatest rise in truck thefts last year was of Volvo units, up from 22 in 1992 to 55. 7 Around 80 hauliers in the Eastern Counties have joined a Norfolk Constabulary/ Norwich Union Truckwatch scheme which starts 11 March. Hauliers pay a one-off .C20 for which the police will circulate details of their stolen vehicles to other members.

Free recovery of stolen trucks is on offer from Specialist Plant Investigations in Ottershaw, Surrey, established by David Sharp.
