y long-term suspicion iVithat nobody knows the rules regarding drivers hours has just been confirmed. After spending several hours with authorities trying to clarify the legal requirements of double manning I am still no clearer on the law.

The regulatory body could only say it is "very complicated" and "we will send you a leaflet but it does not tell too much". This is very serious considering a driver can be prosecuted and fined for exceeding driving hours by 12 minutes. Surely it is time that the plethora of regulations is simplified so the industry can interpret the rules and not fall foul of the I've just heard that the EC courts are going to have another go at sorting out the 4Xhour driving controversy, in spite of the ruling published recently (CM 24 Feb-2 Mar).
