Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• The first ERF to be fitted with a Wabco ASR traction control device as original equipment has gone into service with S&S Services of Tunbridge Wells, Kent.

It has been installed on a 306kW (410hp) Cummins-powered twin-steer EC14 41TT tractor. Ken Sanderson, a partner in S&S, specified it because his trucks sometimes suffer wheelspin when lightly laden on groupage work. "It cost us an additional £600, but I hope it will save tyre wear," he says.

He expects the system will also make it easier for drivers to pull away on steep hills and in wintry conditions. "Sometimes you can't move in snow in a twin-steer unless you're fullyladen," he says.

Most major truck manufacturers fit Wabco's ASR package in at least one European market, and it is available as an after. market fitment in the UK. Retrofit prices vary; fitting is easier if the vehicle already has a Wabco ABS system.
