• by Bryan Jarvis Wirral-based Cheanright Industrial Service has Invested more than a million pounds Jr four Daf eight-logger chassis equipped with heavy-duty waste vacuum tanker systems, doubling the number of these unusual vehicles in its fleet. They are built on Daf FAD 85CF 8x4 chassis with double-bunk sleeper cabs and feature VacuPress 8000 tanks by Nachtgerboren of Rotterdam to handle any waste material, including toxic substances, from sewage to slurry, ash or other more solid material.
Each tank holds up to 12 tonnes, but the system can be reversed to blow at up to 1.2 bar, enabling the vehicles to collect material for recycling, removal to other locations or for transfer to other vehicles or storage areas.
The new vehicles are powered by Daf's own 340ho 12.6litre XF engine, matched to an eight-speed ZF 8S-151 synchromesh box. Cleanright director Mark Jackson is happy with the early fuel return figures of better than 9.0mpg, or 3.3gal/hour on static running.
