Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

TWO vehicles, not one, are the subject of CM's latest road test. To assess Volvo's recently released automatic version of the F86 tractive unit, we ran it round our Midlands test circuit. Then we tried a manual model of the same vehicle, over the same route with the same semi-trailer.

As was to be expected, the manual version was more economical than its automatic stable mate.

In fact it returned an overall fuel consumption of 36.8 lit/100km (7.67mpg) against 40.41it/100km (7mpg) for the automatic.

Both vehicles were loaded to a gross weight of 32 tons. A full report of our findings will appear in the CM issue of June 17,
