Catering facilities

NEW catering facilities have been opened on the southbound carriageway of the M6 at Southwaite service area in Cumbria.

Until now southbound travellers had to cross to the other side by means of a footbridge to obtain catering facilities.

Kitten price

IN the Reliant Kitten advertisements that appeared in CM, April 29 and May 20, the price of the vehicle read £1,710.72. This should have been £1,821.96.

March casualties

PROVISIONAL figures issued by the Department of Transport show that road casualties in March 1977 increased by 12 per cent over March 1976.

The total number of injuries and deaths was 26,800. Within this total, deaths were two per cent higher than last year, serious injuries increased by nine per cent, and slight injuries by 14 per cent.

M11 underway

WORK on the new £9.8m MI I motorway between Quendon and Stump Cross gets underway on Wednesday. Construction is expected to take about 27-months. The news comes only days after the Department of Transport revealed that it had accepted a tender from Tarmac Ltd.

Route 'A'

THE ROUTE to the west of Bulwick, Northamptonshire known as route "A" has been selected as the preferred route for the diversion of the A43 trunk road to by-pass the village.

The scheme will result in a substantial environmental improvement for the village and is one of several being considered on the Oxford to Market Deeping trunk road between Northampton and Stamford.
