AN additional payment of 7s. for working Saturday shifts after 1 p.m. is to be made to Glasgow's 6,000 municipal busmen. The award, backdated to May 5, was made last week by the Corporation's establishment committee, and was being made regardless of the rejection of the claim by the National Joint Industrial Council. It will cost 00,000 a year.
Cllr. William Lee, transport convener. explained that the payments were being made because of the difficulty in securing crews for the services concerned. New schedules to be introduced tomorrow would mean a less frequent service on Saturday afternoons although evening services would be practically unchanged.
