• Since 2003, it has been an offence to use handheld mobile phones while driving.
• Since February 2007, drivers face a fixed penalty of 260, with three penalty points on their licence.
• If a case goes to court, truck or van drivers can additlonally be banned or fined up to 22,500.
• Drivers can be prosecuted for using a hands-free phone if they're not in proper control of the vehIcle.
• It is llegal to hold a phone while waiting in traffic as well as while driving.
