Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Burnell s Motors (1947) Ltd, Clevedon, Somerset, which had applied for an express service between Weston-super-Mare and Southampton to operate on Fridays returning on Sundays during July, August and September, was opposed by five other operators.

The application, which was to have been heard by the Western area Traffic Commissioners on June 30, was withdrawn by the company in view of the fact that one of the objectors, Associated Motorways, already operated a comparable service. The service was to convey pre-booked passengers of P. and A. Campbell Ltd to Thoresen's car ferry terminal, Southampton.

The hearing of an application by Clevedon Motorways Ltd, of Clevedon, Somerset, to operate an express service between Clevedon and Southampton Docks was opposed by four objectors and has been adjourned to a later date to be announced.
