increase in wages has been made by unions representing operating and maintenance workers in company and municipal passenger transport undertakings. Altogether, about 165,009 employees are affected.
It is expected that the National Joint Industrial Council for road passenger transport and the National Council for the Omnibus Industry will discuss the claims this month.
The proposed increase is expected to cost Birmingham Transport Department £150,000 a year (see page 631).
