Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Last year proved quiet in this

sector, as only the French and Italians introduced new products for 2007. For the rest,

it's as you were...

Kevin Swallow reports.

The French and Italian manufacturers have been putting new tipper products into the market following the success of their respective tractor ranges. Renault's Lander, based on a Premium design, became its lightweight multi-axle offering, and Iveco's revamped Stralis provided the basis for its newTrakker. Both will be tested by Commercial Motor during 2008.

The market has been relatively quiet, with only Hino having an impact on the class leadersDaf, Scania and Volvo. The debate over EGR and SCR hasn't swayed the buying process in this sector for any particular manufacturer, as service and customer relations remain pivotal to product loyalty Digital tachographs in tippers and kerbweight are the biggest issues for operators. They have systematically been getting drivers equipped, regardless of who pays for the licence for new arrivals. Those trucks that have been extended for an extra six or 12 months won't last forever, and this is a great time to sell your tipper-it's worth its weight in gold... well, nearly.
