The International Van of the Year winner in 2004, the Transporter is still capable of giving the Renault/Vauxhall model a run for its money. With the 2.5-litre, five-cylinder 174hp engine under the bonnet this remains one of the most powerful vans on the market For more sedate motoring there are power options from 84 to 130hp on offer.

The Transporter In UK guise is available with two wheelbase options and three roof heights offering load volumes up to 9.3m3. All-wheel-drive variants joined the line-up the year before last. completing a very extensive range.

To address the critics who reckoned the Transporter was a boring van compared with some of its rivals Volkswagen released details of the Transporter Sportline in the first quarter of 2006, although this was actually little more than a marketing gimmick to eke a bit more value out of the product.

This high-power special edition version of the van is equipped with the 174hp engine, has sporty styling and comes with all the bells and whistles on the inside. Definitely one for the buyer looking for that bit more.
