Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

TEBS4 is the first fully developed generation of Knorr's Trailer EBS system, and it integrates many of the functions of traditional trailer air systems into a few easilyinstalled modules; as Knorr's Colin Ross explains, prefer to call this an integrated braking system". It is suitable for disc and drum setups alike. Knorr claims that there is a AO% reduction in the number of fittings used on a typical trailer.

The central unit combines an ECU and modulators for each wheel's brake air supply.

Ross points out that there is "no external cabling — it's all under control in a nice environment". The system can be retro-fitted (the first units are being equipped now) and can incorporate TRSP (see main text).

Simon Craddock of Knorr-Bremse in the UK reckons that this sophistication need not be expensive: "With EBS only there will be a marginal cost increase". The price of the unit is offset by its lower installation cost. As for the roll stability features, "RSP does not cost as much as the brake system — it's a fractional cost. And it really depends how many you buy". One tanker builder at the event reckoned the on-cost would be insignificant for his sector.
